Adopt a Caracal (Lynx)
You have the opportunity to adopt a Caracal in your name or even in a loved one’s name. By adopting one of these incredible creatures, you will be helping South Africa preserve its natural environment and habitat.
Select a Caracal below:
Savannah
This female enjoys to be isolated and keeps away from the public eye. She loves to hide in the thick bushes or in the trees during the day, surprising us only during feeding time with a quick 'hello'. She is tough little princess who shows exactly what she wants in life! Savannah will remain at the project for breeding purposes.
Ruby
This beautiful female has a deep red coat, with the richest red colour. Although Ruby tries to avoid people as much as possible, she is never aggressive and always maintains the air of a real lady. She will remain on the project for breeding purposes.
Carlos
This male is a real little wild child and spends most of his time either in the trees or hissing at anyone in the vicinity of his enclosure. Carlos constantly shows who is the boss and loves this title. Carlos & Diego are our main breeding males and will remain on the project.
Diego
This young male really lives up to his name sake (American movie, Diego being associated with a bad character and a bad attitude). After meal time, his favourite thing would have to be hissing at anyone within ear-shot of his enclosure. He looks slightly different than the other caracal on the project, with his coat being a much lighter shade of red. Diego also loves chasing a hockey-ball around with whomever is brave enough to go into his enclosure.
Blaze
Blaze is the youngest male caracal on the project but he has an attitude of an adult due to the fact that his mother raised him by herself for a full year. He is a gentle soul with good mannerism, always shows the same personality, calm and contented. He will remain at the project because he has a bad squint.
